To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many private security organisations are engaged in the policing of housing estates in(a) England, (b) Wales and (c) Northern Ireland.

Information on the number of patrols by private security firms in England and Wales and Northern Ireland is not held centrally.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce a system of licensing for private security organisations.

The Government's policy is to support the development of self-regulation within the private security industry. There are no plans to introduce a system of licensing.
