§ Mr. SackvilleThe Department of Health does not collect information on hospital perioperative death rates. The royal colleges encourage clinicians to participate in a national confidential inquiry into hospital perioperative deaths. The results of the inquiry are published in an annual report, copies of which are available in the Library, but the identity of individual hospitals and surgeons remain confidential.
