To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the most recent available average cost of(a) an in-patient, (b) an out-patient and (c) an accident emergency episode of treatment in England.

Information for 1991–92 is shown in the table. The figures are not comparable with data from financial returns, for earlier years due to the inclusion of capital charges and overheads.
