HC Deb 02 November 1993 vol 231 c154W
Mr. McAllion

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish the number of reported crimes in Scotland in each of the past 10 years involving(a) indecency, (b) violence, (c) dishonesty, (d) fire raising and violence, (e) theft of motor vehicles, (f) theft by opening lockfast places and (g) drugs.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 1 November 1993]: Information is not collected centrally on the number of crimes reported to the police. Information on the number of crimes recorded by the police in Scotland for the categories of crime requested for each of the past five years is contained in the Scottish Office statistical bulletin "Recorded Crime in Scotland 1992", which was published on 21 April 1993. For earlier years information is contained in previous issues of the bulletin. Copies of the bulletins were placed in the House of Commons Library.
