§ Rev. William McCreaTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when the Government plans to construct the bypass for(a) Magherafelt, (b) Cookstown, (c) Newtownstewart and (d) Omagh.
§ Mr. AtkinsMagherafelt bypass and Newtownstewart bypass are included in the Department's six to 15-year major road works programme. Whilst Cookstown eastern distributor road is not presently included in this programme, its position is currently being reviewed.
The first stage of the Omagh throughpass was completed in 1990 while work on the second stage is programmed to start in 1995–96.
The precise timing of all schemes is subject to future funding levels.
