HC Deb 01 November 1993 vol 231 c44W
Dr. Strang

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give the figures for the United Kingdom relating to 1993 for the value of the ewe premium and suckler cow premium per head distinguishing the value of any supplements if applicable.

Mr. Ancram

[holding answer 29 October 1993]: The final rate of ewe premium for the 1993 marketing year will not be determined by the EC Commission until early 1994. In Northern Ireland two advance payments totalling £12.55 per ewe each for all producers and the supplement of £5.16 per ewe payable to producers in the less-favoured areas only have been authorised.

In Northern Ireland the rate of suckler cow premium in respect of 1993 is £84.51 per cow. Suckler cow producers whose overall stocking density is less than 1.4 livestock units per hectare of forage area will also receive an extensification premium of £28.17 per cow.
