HC Deb 01 November 1993 vol 231 cc49-50W
Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many known sufferers of Alzheimer's disease there are in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Clwyd, North-West (Mr. Richards) on 27 January 1993 at column734.

Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what plans his office has to review its policies in dealing with sufferers of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

It is for health authorities to determine and make provision to meet local health needs. The Welsh Office actively supports the work of the Alzheimer's Disease Society in Wales and is providing over £300,000 towards specific projects and posts.
