HC Deb 01 November 1993 vol 231 c21W
Mr. Parry

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received opposing tax increases in the Budget on beer and tobacco; and if he will make a statement.

Sir John Cope

My right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer has received a number of such representations in recent weeks, all of which are considered carefully. It would not be appropriate to comment further in advance of the Budget.
