To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many jobs have been (a) created and (b) safeguarded in Wales by regional selective assistance in areas defined by the Industry Act 1972, and amended in 1984, since its implementation.

Information about employment created or safeguarded by regional selective assistance since its implementation is not available centrally. However information about payments of RSA and employment created or safeguarded on cumulative offers accepted since 1 April 1982 is published in the Industrial Development Act 1982 annual report. Further information is also published in the Welsh Office departmental report. Copies are available in the Library of the House.
