§ Mr. DafisTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish figures showing the total gross capital expenditure on housing by (a) local authorities and (b) housing associations for each year from 1979–80, including estimated expenditure up to 1994–95; and if he will indicate the total spent on social housing (i) in cash terms and (ii) at constant 1991–92 prices.
§ Mr. Gwilym JonesInformation on gross capital expenditure on housing is given in the following table. For 645W 1994–95, local authorities and Housing for Wales will make firm expenditure plans in the light of the resources which will be announced later this year.
The total capital amount spent, by local authorities and housing associations, on social housing for the period 1979–80 to 1993–94 is estimated at £2,800 million in cash terms, and £3,600 million at constant 1991–92 prices. The local authority element includes Housing Revenue Account capital expenditure for each year and low cost home ownership expenditure for the period 1981–82 to 1991–92. Information on low cost home ownership is not available separately for the other years.
