HC Deb 25 May 1993 vol 225 c516W
Mr. Elletson

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have been held during meetings of EC foreign ministers on the effect of sanctions against the former Yugoslavia on the Greek economy.

Mr. Garel-Jones

All countries can discuss the effects of sanctions with the international financial institutions, which are best placed to provide technical and, where appropriate, financial support. At the Foreign Affairs Council on 10 May, the Foreign Minister of Greece drew attention to his country's concerns about the effects of sanctions on the Greek economy. The meeting also agreed on the importance of rigorous implementation of the sanctions regime.
