What was the cost to public funds of the research assessment exercise for universities.
§ The Minister of State, Department for Education (Baroness Blatch)The Higher Education Funding Council for England has estimated that the costs to universities and colleges of the assessment exercise carried out by the Universities Funding Council (UFC) in 1992 totalled around £12.5 million. The estimated costs to the UFC were £1 million. The ratings will inform the distribution of at least £2 billion of research funding over the next three to four years.
