HC Deb 24 May 1993 vol 225 cc425-6W
Mr. Clifton-Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will review the procedure by which the police have to present evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service and also their evidence to the courts in order to increase the effectiveness of criminal prosecutions in England and Wales.

Mr. Charles Wardle

My right hon. and learned Friend recently announced a three-month study by consultants to see what can be done to reduce the burden of paperwork and bureaucracy on the police. That study will include a systematic analysis of the procedures by which the police present evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service and the courts.
