§ Mr. BaldrySection 129 of the Housing Act 1988 empowers local authorities to operate a cash incentive scheme to give grants to their tenants to help them obtain other accommodation by buying or leasing a home. These schemes are a valuable and cost-effective way of securing vacancies for reletting to homeless people.
The table lists schemes approved by the Department to date for 1993–94 and gives the range of grant payable under each scheme.
