To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the current position relating to the appeal of Raymond Gilmour, currently detained in Saughton prison on the conviction of murder.

Representations were submitted on behalf of Mr. Raymond Gilmour on 8 January and 12 March this year concerning his conviction for murder at Glasgow High Court on 7 June 1982. Detailed inquiries are being made into the matters raised by these petitions. The hon. Member will be informed as soon as a decision has been reached in his constituent's case.
