HC Deb 19 May 1993 vol 225 c171W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to what investigations his Department has been subject by the Data Protection Registrar in relation to a suspected breach of a data protection principle; if he will summarise the nature of each complaint and state when the complaint was made; and what remedial action was taken by his Department to ensure future compliance with the principle subject to the investigation.

Mr. Curry

In August 1989, the registrar investigated a complaint which alleged improper use of agricultural census information to compile a list of growers required to pay the Horticultural Development Council levy. The registrar was satisfied that no census material or computerised information had been disclosed to the Horticultural Development Council and no remedial action was necessary.

There have been no other complaints.
