To ask the right hon. Member for Selby, as representing the Church Commissioners, what plans the Church Commissioners have to assist dioceses and churches in central London with the costs of insurance.

The Commissioners' primary responsibility is the financial support of the clergy. With this in mind, they operate concessionary car and home contents insurance schemes jointly with the Ecclesiastical Insurance Office. These schemes provide additional assistance for clergy in inner city parishes. Responsibility for insuring church buildings rests with the parochial church council.
