HC Deb 13 May 1993 vol 224 c564W
Mr. Clifton-Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to her answer of 4 March,Official Report, column 217, what plans she has to revise the collection of statistics to make it possible to evaluate the percentage of successful prosecutions brought by environmental health officers.

Mr. Sackville

The statistics enable a comparison to be made between the number of establishments prosecuted under the Food Safety Act 1990 and subordinate legislation and the number of successful convictions. However, it is not possible to determine those taken by environmental health officers. We have no plans to change the form of the statistics which are based on EC requirements.
