asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is practical to demand that a farmer fill in the 16 digit cattle identification number on Form 5 of the beef special premium scheme in a column measuring 4 cm, and whether they will amend future forms to enable better legibility.

Farmers filling in form BEEF 5 have not in general had difficulty with this requirement. The design of the forms for the beef special premium scheme will be reviewed in the light of experience.
