There are 12 current United Nations peacekeeping or monitoring missions:

  • UNTSO—The UN Truce Supervision Organisation
  • UNDOF—The UN Disengagement Observer Force
  • UNIFIL—The UN Interim Force in Lebanon
  • UNMOGIP—The UN Monitoring Organisation India/Pakistan
  • UNFICYP—The UN Force in Cyprus
  • ONUSAL—The UN Missions in El Salvador
  • UNAVEM—The UN Angola Verification Mission
  • MINURSO—The UN Referendum Monitory Mission in Western Sahara
  • UNIKOM—The UN Iraq/Kuwait Observer Mission
  • UNTAC—The UN Transitional Authority in Cambodia
  • UNPROFOR—The UN Protection Force (Former Yugoslavia)
  • ONUMOZ—The UN Operation in Mozambique

A deployment is also underway to UNOSOM II which will take over from UNITAF—the Unified Task Force —in Somalia.
