Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs met Mr. Cetin in London on 23 November, he made clear our expectation that Turkey would use her significant influence to encourage the Turkish Cypriot community to work actively towards a settlement to the dispute. We use every opportunity to reiterate to the Turks our desire for a solution to the Cyprus problem and will do so again in the run-up to the resumed intercommunal talks in New York on 24 May.
