HC Deb 12 May 1993 vol 224 c521W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of Stale for Defence what is the current total of inspections carried out by the United Kingdom as part of the confidence and security-building measures agreements; which countries have been visited; what problems have occurred; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

We have carried out 10 confidence and security-building measures evaluations and three inspections. The evaluations were conducted in the then Soviet Union, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Belarus, and Ukraine, with inspections in Belarus and Russia. Although there have been on occasions some minor logistical difficulties, no problems of substance have arisen.
