§ Mr. Archie HamiltonExtensive refresher training in basic skills is undertaken by any unit preparing to undertake an emergency tour. In the case of 1st Prince of Wales Own Battalion group, additional specialised training included route clearing and anti-ambush drills, convoy control and driving techniques. Some basic language training as well as briefing on the background to the conflict were also included.
