HL Deb 11 May 1993 vol 545 c63WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What response they have made to the request by Amnesty International, in February 1993, for a wider review of the case of Mr. Neil Latimer, the one remaining convicted member of the UDR Four.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland (The Earl of Arran)

My right honourable and learned friend has received no such request from Amnesty International although he has received a number of letters about Mr. Latimer's case from members of that organisation. These letters have not disclosed any grounds on which he would be justified in exercising his power to again refer Mr. Latimer's case to the Court of Appeal. If he received any further material from Amnesty International it would, of course, be carefully considered.
