HL Deb 06 May 1993 vol 545 c44WA
Lord Stanley of Alderley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the procedure if an ear-tag is missing in a bullock that has a Cattle Identification Document and whether it will be necessary for the farmer to check the Cattle Identification Document numbers on all his bullocks in order to identify the number of the lost tag.

Earl Howe

The farmer does need to establish which animal has lost its ear-tag by whatever means is most convenient to him. If the ear-tag is replaced with one with a different number, the relevant Cattle Identification Document should be returned to the local MAFF Regional Service Centre for amendment.
