§ Lord Stanley of Alderleyasked Her Majesty's Government:
What is the procedure if an ear-tag is missing in a bullock that has a Cattle Identification Document and whether it will be necessary for the farmer to check the Cattle Identification Document numbers on all his bullocks in order to identify the number of the lost tag.
Earl HoweThe farmer does need to establish which animal has lost its ear-tag by whatever means is most convenient to him. If the ear-tag is replaced with one with a different number, the relevant Cattle Identification Document should be returned to the local MAFF Regional Service Centre for amendment.
