To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what role the flood defence function of the National Rivers Authority has in the implementation of higher water levels in the north Kent marshes environmentally sensitive area.

Where higher water levels are sought there will be careful liaison between the Ministry and the National Rivers Authority.
