HC Deb 31 March 1993 vol 222 cc218-9W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what consultations he has had in Wales with (i) the Magistrates Association, (ii) chief police officers and (iii) the Assembly of Welsh Councils, concerning changes in the organisation of police forces;

(2) if he will meet the Assembly of Welsh Councils; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Charles Wardle

My right hon. and learned Friend made a statement about the future of the police service in England and Wales on 23 March. On the same day he met the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers and the chairman of the Association of County Councils to discuss the proposals which were set out in his statement. He has no plans at present to meet the Assembly of Welsh Counties, the Magistrates Association or individual chief police officers.

Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department which police headquarters he has visited in Wales.

Mr. Charles Wardle
