HL Deb 31 March 1993 vol 544 c53WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have discussed with either the Bush or Clinton Administrations (a) the possibility of devising a zone in the Middle East that will be free of all weapons of mass destruction, and (b) whether the deployment in that zone of Anti-Ballistic Missiles (such as the ARROW system now being developed jointly by the US and Israel, or another system) by all parties would be helpful.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

We support the goal of establishing a zone in the Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction. We have frequent contact with the United States Government on Middle Eastern security issues. We have not discussed the deployment of anti-ballistic missiles by all parties in the Middle East.
