HC Deb 31 March 1993 vol 222 cc265-6W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will make it his policy to develop a national policy for the provision of refuges and support services to women and children who are the victims of domestic violence.

Mr. Donald Anderson

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of whether the number of women's refuges in Wales is sufficient for the demand; and if he will consider further funding.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

The Government are already supporting such provision and services. In 1992–93 the Welsh Office provided over £235,000 to Welsh Women's Aid and over £438,000 for projects in individual refuges and advice centres.

Mr. Donald Anderson

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many refuges for women fleeing from domestic violence are available in Wales; and what is their total capacity.
