To ask the Secretary of State for Education what is his policy on the appropriate level of youth service provision.

§ Mr. Boswell
The youth service is committed to the principle that the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum should be determined locally, and not nationally. The appropriate level of provision to deliver local youth service objectives is primarily a matter for individual local education authorities in accordance with their duty under sections 41 and 53 of the Education Act 1944.
