HC Deb 30 March 1993 vol 222 c170W
Ms Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security whether the benefit of an unemployed person who is in receipt of income support is retained or is suspended where a doubt arises about their availability for work; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Burt

While a doubt about an unemployed person's availability for work is being considered, income support may be paid at a reduced rate if the adjudication officer is satisfied that the claimant or a member of his family would otherwise suffer hardship.
