To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is his policy regarding the prosecution of British service personnel for possible breaches of international conventions or treaties relating to the conduct of hostilities; and if he will make a statement.

British service personnel are subject to both domestic arid international law at all times. Any allegation that members of our armed forces had contravened the laws of armed conflict would be investigated, and if necessary the evidence would he referred to the appropriate authority for consideration of proceedings against the individuals concerned.
