Ms Lynne

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what arrangements have been made for ambulance staff who have been transferred into trust employment to retain their rights of appeal against disciplinary action or dismissal, formerly involving regional health authorities;

(2) how many appeals relating to disciplinary action or dismissal of ambulance staff have been heard by trust boards in the last available year; and how many applications for hearing appeals have been rejected;

(3) how many appeals relating to disciplinary action or dismissal of ambulance staff have been upheld by trust boards and how many have been dismissed in the last available year.

Dr. Mawhinney

Staff who transfer to national health service trusts with their Whitley terms and conditions of service retain the right to disciplinary appeals procedures outlined in section 40 of the General Whitley Council handbook. Copies are available in the Library. Information on appeals is not available centrally.
