HC Deb 29 March 1993 vol 222 c87W
Mr. Richards

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what special facilities are available in primary and secondary schools for Down's syndrome children in Wales.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Local education authorities and school governing bodies have responsibilities to ensure that appropriate provision is made for children with special educational needs, including those with Down's syndrome. Provision will depend on the needs of the individual child.

The Education Bill proposes a duty on schools to develop and publish policies for the provision they make for all their children with special educational needs and to report annually to parents on the implementation of those policies.
