HC Deb 26 March 1993 vol 221 c755W
Sir Michael Grylls

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what are the total numbers of staff employed in each of the various management/administrator grades of the national health service; and what were the comparable numbers and grades of administrators employed in each year since 1975.

Dr. Mawhinney

The total numbers of staff employed in administrative and clerical grades and the total numbers of general and senior managers are given in the table. Management still accounts for less than 1.7 per cent. of the national health service work force.
