To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will provide details of all of the current orders he has with Leyland DAF.

Mr. Aitken

The Department has 36 current contracts with Leyland DAF. Thesee are as follows:

  1. (1) Five vehicle contracts comprising DROPS MMLC, four tonne 4 x 4 truck cargo, 4 tonne 4 x 2 truck cargo, eight-tonne 4 x 2 truck cargo, and 21-tonne truck cargo;
  2. (2) 24 spares contracts;
  3. (3) Two post-design services contracts for DROPS and four tonne;
  4. (4) Five general contracts e.g. running contracts and testing.
