HC Deb 25 March 1993 vol 221 c684W
Mr. Straw

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what advice has been circulated by the Valuation Agency to regional and local offices regarding procedures to check the accuracy of council tax bandings.

Mr. Nelson

[holding answer 23 March 1993]: The Valuation Office agency instructed all its local offices in England and Wales to conduct a rigid system of quality control on completed bandings. The system has been applied to both bandings completed by Valuation Office staff and private sector contractors who were themselves obliged under the terms of their contracts to conduct a quality assurance exercise.
