HC Deb 23 March 1993 vol 221 c545W
Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what support is currently given by his Department to assist village halls with the cost of essential works related to new food, safety and hygiene regulations and the Children Act 1989.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

Village halls can be eligible for financial support from the Welsh Office under a range of grant schemes, including the rural initiative capital grants scheme, the child and family services grant scheme and the voluntary youth services, village halls and community centres programme. Such grants might be used for improvements to meet requirements of food safety and hygiene regulations and the registration conditions of the Children Act 1989.
