§ Mr. DorrellThe estimated cost of allowing tax relief for afforestation under schedule D was of the order of £10 million a year between 1983–84 and 1987–88. No estimates are available of the cost of relief allowed for 1988–89 to 1992–93 under the transitional provisions introduced when forestry was removed from the scope of taxation in 1988–89.
