asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they expect to bring into effect the remaining provisions of the Charities Act 1992.

It is our intention to bring the 1992 Act fully into force at the earliest opportunity—consistent with effective preparation and consultation. We therefore intend to bring the further provisions into effect by the following dates:

  • by the end of 1993: further fees regulations;
  • by the end of March 1994: provisions on professional fund-raising (Part II of the Act);
  • by the end of June 1994: accounting provisions (contained in Part I of the Act);
  • by the end of 1994: public charitable collections (Part III of the Act).

Where possible we will, however, seek to bring the provisions into effect earlier than the dates given above.
