HC Deb 22 March 1993 vol 221 c461W
24. Mr. Hutton

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what representations he has received concerning the impact of the National Lottery etc. Bill on lotteries organised by sporting and charitable organisations.

Mr. Key

We received a number of representations from football clubs and United Kingdom Charity Lotteries Ltd., expressing their concerns. We have taken these into account. Three important changes have been made to the provisions in the Bill relating to society or local authority lotteries, and my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department is considering other issues which were raised in Committee.

25. Mr. Gunnell

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will make it his policy to ensure that regional museums receive funding from the national lottery.

Mr. Key

The National Heritage Memorial Fund will be responsible for distributing lottery money to the heritage. The NHMF already funds projects which are of outstanding regional or local, as well as national, interest. I am confident the trustees will continue to do so, judging grant applications on the basis of quality and priority.
