Senhor Coutinho Jorge's programme included separate meetings with Ministers and officials in several Departments and with non-governmental organisations. His discussions with officials in the Overseas Development Administration concerned inter alia progress on the implementation of the G7 pilot programme for the conservation of the Brazilian rain forest, to which Britain is a contributor. He was assured that Britain was providing the contributions it had promised to the pilot programme through our bilateral technical co-operation programme in the Amazon area and to the Rainforest Trust Fund, and of our intention to participate in future pilot programme activities as resources permitted.
