HC Deb 19 March 1993 vol 221 c436W
Mr. Alfred Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will review the problems of health authorities with inadequate funding for very urgent hospital treatment in the remaining weeks of the current financial year by reference to individual cases which have been drawn to her attention.

Mr. Sackville

National health service funding is at an all time high with more patients being treated than ever before. Within that total, emergency patients are treated immediately and urgent cases as soon as possible according to clinical priority. The NHS chief executive has written to all health authority and hospital general managers to ensure that patients who need urgent treatment are given the necessary priority.
