To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what studies his Department has undertaken into the development of tourism in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Atkins

In 1989 the Department published a strategic review of the industry and it has, in conjunction with the Northern Ireland tourist board, also commissioned reports by consultants on the employment and wealth-creation opportunities of tourism and the quality of tourist accommodation.
