§ Mr. SoamesNew Community rules for the protection of animals during transport came into force on 1 January 1993. Commission proposals are awaited on further detailed measures including rules on feeding, watering and rest intervals, and vehicle standards. In their absence national rules continue to apply and we have set the maximum feeding and watering interval at 15 hours for all livestock journeys.
