§ Mr. SainsburyAccording to Japanese Ministry of Finance figures, the percentage by value of inward direct investment into the United Kingdom from Japan in manufacturing industry in each financial year since 1987 was as follows:
Per cent. April 1987 to March 1988 11.7 April 1988 to March 1989 8.5 April 1989 to March 1990 22.4 April 1990 to March 1991 29.4 April 1991 to March 1992 25.2 The cumulative percentage for the period since records began to date—1951 to financial year 1991–92—is 19.8.
