HC Deb 18 March 1993 vol 221 c361W
14. Mr. McFall

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what discussions he has had with the Irish Foreign Minister on the issue of the Anglo-Irish Agreement.

Sir Patrick Mayhew

The Irish Foreign Minister, Mr. Spring and I last met at the Anglo-Irish intergovernmental conference in London on 3 February and I shall be meeting him again at a further meeting of the conference next week. Both the British and Irish Governments remain fully committed to the Anglo-Irish Agreement. We have also made clear that we would be prepared to consider a new and more broadly based agreement or structure if this can be arrived at through direct discussion and negotiation between all of the parties concerned.
