§ Mr. MacleanEmissions from the production of aluminium sulphate are subject to control under part III of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 if they give rise to a statutory nuisance. Exposure to aluminium sulphate at the workplace is subject to the general provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and, in particular, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1988. Under these regulations, aluminium sulphate has been assigned an occupational exposure standard of 2mg/m3, averaged over an eight-hour period.
