HC Deb 17 March 1993 vol 221 c290W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will list, for each of her Department's offices, the cost of counselling provided by her Department for employees who smoke and who wish to give up the habit.

Mr. McLoughlin

The Employment Department group has over 66,000 staff employed in a diversity of workplaces. Information on the cost of counselling for each departmental office is not held and could not be obtained without incurring a disproportionate cost. The group encourages managers to offer help to smokers who want to give up, including self-help smoking groups, organised smoking withdrawal courses, health education material, videos and audio-cassettes and cigarette substitutes.
