To ask the President of the Board of Trade what percentage share of total departmental spending was accounted for by non-departmental public bodies in each year since 1979.

The percentage share of total departmental expenditure accounted for by grants to executive non-departmental public bodies by the DTI and the Department of Energy was as follows:
